Hi friend!
Thank you for stopping by!
I’m Hulda — a fellow sojourner in the life of faith, a child of God, wife to my beloved and mama to three amazing kiddos.
I began this blog four years ago as a way to fulfill a childhood dream to write — to write really, good stories.
What you can expect to find on this blog:
- Stories to inspire you in your faith journey
- Inspiration to live your one precious life in light of eternity
- Clarity to focus on what matters most
- Tools to help you write a better life story
You will notice that many of the posts here are deeply personal. I write about overcoming my struggles and challenges as a wife, a mama, an expat living overseas and making my life count for eternity. And for me these often revolve around the pain of living with shame, fear of rejection and struggling to remember every day that I’m a child, a daughter of the King.
My Story
It was my faith in the Lord Jesus that took me to a former communist country in Central Europe nearly 20 years ago. And having lived there for the last 18 years as a missionary, I’ve seen God’s invisible hand at work to bring life, hope and new beginnings.
We moved back to the U.S. last summer with heavy hearts. It was hard saying goodbye to our friends and the life we’d built. Our children who were born and grew up there felt the change deeply. And while we would not have planned it that way, we can see God’s timing in light of the current Covid-19 pandemic.
We are in the process of rebuilding our lives … of making a new beginning.
Living overseas without the security of a paycheck stretched my faith to no end. And now as we seek to find our place in our home country, we find it’s no different. God hasn’t changed but our faith has faltered, waned and even despaired. We find ourselves without a house while we wait for ours in Czechia to sell. And in the waiting, we are faced daily with the choice to trust Him or to succumb to our fears and worries.
One of the few things I brought back from my life overseas were journal pages where I wrote about how God answered our prayers, the many different ways He intervened and the people He brought into our lives. They are reminders of His faithfulness, of His goodness and of His unfailing love which are anew each day.
As I look back on the last two decades of my faith journey, I realize God hasn’t changed but my perspective, my understanding of Him has. He is so much bigger and so much more wonderful and amazing than I imagined or believed.
And the more I seek Him, the more I realize that God is not some distant Higher Power far away in the heavenlies. He is Immanuel — God with us. He is here with us in the muck and mire of our everyday life and He cares so much more than we can imagine.
So this blog is a blog of a fellow sojourner, a seeker of the God of the universe, the Lord Jesus Christ. Even if I think I know God more than I did 20 years ago, I know that there is infinitely more to know about God and His great love for us.
We only pass this way once
For most of my life, I’ve lived with the false belief that I don’t have to do it today, because I can do it tomorrow. This one false belief has hurt my life so much. Because the truth of it is — tomorrow never really comes.
You only pass this way once. Embrace your life. Be fully present.
“Teach us to number our days that we might gain a heart of wisdom” wrote Moses. It’s my prayer too and in the pages of this blog, I want to explore what that means.
How do we live our one precious life in light of eternity?
How do we find healing for our hearts in this broken world?
So won’t you join me — no matter where you are on your faith journey, let’s live with our hearts fully alive — as we travel on this journey to the heart of the Father.

I’m following you on your journey Hulda!
My how your children have grown.. Love seeing you looking so happy. Who would have thought.. you would be a warrior for the Lord, so thrilled to see your growth in life.
We are still here in Idaho, but do to circumstances behind my control I will be putting my place up for sale this summer. Seems unfair you work all your life to have a nice place to retire… Then you have to sell…. But the good Lord will provide, I trust he will take care of me…
Blessings to you and your Family…
God Bless
Read your post on Five Minute Friday. I have stacks of journals too! Writing is therapeutic and doing it for your own pleasure is a good enough reason to do it. But, you would be (will be) surprised who reads it when it is out there on the internet. There are lots of readers who are looking for inspiration, or hope, or answers and if you’re writing about your life with God, all three of those will be evident in your posts. I’m sure you are finding this true – looks like you’ve been at it for a while. Blessings!
Love your blog! Praise the Lord for Christian ministry blogs!! I have one as well, and found you in the introduction thread of EBA. Hugs, from Tammy
Thank you Tammy!
