Have you ever wondered how some people achieve such amazing things in so many areas of their lives?
For years I’ve wondered if I’m the only who agonizes over wanting to create, to nurture a dream while also doing good job as a homemaker, as a mama and ministry worker. Often it seemed I was doing none of these things well.
Over the years, I’ve searched for answers in books, in online courses, in life coaches and while these were helpful, the answer for me came during my still quiet moments of reading God’s Word.
For sure God used these resources to help me grow, but it wasn’t until I quieted my heart that I began to see the pain caused by a chaotic, disorganized life. At the root of my inability to be and do all I believed God created me for was a disorganized life. This became more painfully apparent as my kids grew older because I could see how it affected them.
What I’ve learned over the years is that a chaotic life destroys our lives slowly. It keeps us unproductive and ineffective. But often because we are wrapped up in our everyday life, it’s hard to notice it. It’s like being the frog in a pot of warm water that is unaware it is being cooked. I believe a disorganized life allows the devil to rob you of your best life — the one God has for you.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jer. 29:11
When God created us — He had amazing plans in mind for us. But even from the day we were conceived, the enemy of our soul has tried to rob us of this plan.
“For we are his workmanship (masterpiece), created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Eph. 2:10
One of the biggest changes we can make with God’s help is to live orderly lives. Why? Because a disorderly and disorganized life affects every area of our life including our dearest and most meaningful relationships. It hurts us and our loved ones. And beyond that, it prevents us from giving God glory.
When we look at creation, it’s easy to see that our God is the God of order even in the smallest details of life. Nothing happens by accident in His Kingdom.
Some of you reading this might not understand what I’m writing about because you are naturally neat — organization comes naturally as breathing air does.
But if you are like me — you will be glad to know there is hope. Hope because change is possible. We don’t have to stay in the same painful chaotic patterns. Tomorrow I’m going to share a tool that’s making all the difference in my life right now.
#Write28Days. This post is part of a 28-day writing challenge where I’m joining other bloggers to write daily during February. Go here to see the other post in this series — Who I am in Christ.
Oh what a wonderful and encouraging post! I’m definitely one of the disorganized one! I’ll be sure to check out your next post on that tool. 🙂
