For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Tim. 1:7
It was the middle of the night, and I awoke to a woman moaning in agony in the neighborhood. My Dad was outside standing in the balcony shouting.
“In the name of Jesus, be gone Satan!”
And again, “In the name of Jesus, be gone Satan!”
But the moaning sound still persisted and grew louder.
I don’t know how many times my Dad repeated that phrase. But the disturbing moaning cry went by our house, and we “saw” it go across the plaza (town square) towards the cemetery.
Apparitions from the other world were not uncommon in our village. My parents had several experiences. Neither of them wanted to see the spirits.
Thus, early on, I became aware of an invisible reality that was as real as the one we could see. The dark forces of evil in the spiritual realm reared it’s ugly head at times to scare us.
I must have been scared but I don’t remember it being a fear that overwhelmed me. My Dad was there and he was calling on the name of Jesus. Maybe the Presence of God was with us in answer to his prayers.
I don’t take the enemy lightly but I also know my God is greater. Jesus crushed Satan’s head when He died on the cross for our sins. The devil has nothing against us. All of it, every single last sin, has been washed in the blood of Jesus.
Years later, I learned that Shirley McClaine and other New Agers would come to Peru to get topped up and make a spiritual connection. Peru is supposedly a stronghold in the spiritual realm – sort of a gate to the other world.
Because of what I witnessed as a child, I never ventured into games like the ouiji board or anything that might be remotely tied to the spiritual world. The only spirit I want to know is the Holy Spirit and the ministering angels, the Bible says, are sent for believers. The Bible also says that the devil disguises himself as an angel of light and deceives many.
Over the years of working as a missionary in central Europe, I’ve seen how the enemy imprisons people in modern societies. It’s just done in a more sophisticated way.
I don’t believe I’m called to deliverance ministry but I do believe I’m called to lift up the name that is above all names … JESUS – who is the most powerful person there is, ever was and ever will be.
And even as I write this, I’m calling on the name of Jesus.
In the movie, Narnia, there is a scene where Lucy, the youngest, a mere child, gets ready to battle the witch and her evil forces. She’s not afraid and like a warrior, she joins the battle. Why? Because, Aslan – who represents the Lion of Judah – is with her.
The battle belongs to the Lord.
On my own, I would not stand a chance. I’d be obliterated to pieces but I’m not alone. I may look as helpless as a small child, but I’m learning that God has called me and all of us to be warriors in His Kingdom.
I have a role to play in this great battle that is going in the spiritual realm. And so do you.
God has good works that He’s prepared in advance for us to do. And one of the reasons that I want to get my heart healed up is so that I can fully engage in this calling to live as a princess warrior. I don’t want to live imprisoned by the lies of the enemy, the world or my own.
I want to break free from this invisible cage. And I know that just as my Dad called on Jesus that night, I can too and know that my Deliver will come. We have enemy territory to take back.
Blessed be the mighty name of Jesus!
AMEN!
Amen and Amen! The spiritual world is real, and God is the greatest, the strongest, the most amazing!
