Day 7 — In Christ, I am chosen
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” Jn. 15:16
As I drove to the government office this morning — the truths I’ve been meditating about who I am in Christ kept coming to mind. And I was thankful that I have these truths to anchor my soul. Whereas I would have been gripped with fear and anxiety in the past, I had peace.
My meeting with the government clerks would determine if I’d be forgiven of my fine which was over $1,000 for something I was completely unaware. I prayed for God’s favor and even if they didn’t pardon my fine, I could trust God to provide and meet my need.
I thought of how the God of the universe chose me — yes, me. Wow. Why should anything else bother me? In Christ, I’m chosen, loved, accepted, forgiven.
However way the clerks would treat me, I prayed for God’s grace to be kind and respectful. The only way this battle was going to be won was if I let the Lord fight it for me.
And as I sat there in front of the clerk who chose to speak in English to me (thank you Father), I prayed silently. At first it did not look well. My heart sank especially as she called her supervisor who confirmed that I had to pay the fine. I just nodded my head.
Then break-through — in a matter of minutes, my whole case turned around. The supervisor called the regional office and all I had to do was submit a document which I had at home and my fine would be entirely forgiven! I thanked them and sang hallelujah all the way home. It was all God.
When the angel Gabriel came to Mary to announce Christ’s birth, he said,
“Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you.” I felt God’s favor as His child today.
