Winter came to our town and brought the cold northern winds along with shorter, grayer days.
It was a few weeks before Christmas at our home group meeting when I asked everyone to write down their prayer requests. Having spent nearly two years together, I knew the precious souls in the room and I knew that some of us needed a miracle from God this holiday season, including our family.
Even though we were the missionaries who had invited our Czech friends for a meal, some encouragement from the Word of God and a time of prayer, something was amiss in our home.
And I knew exactly what I wanted to pray for. We gathered our prayer requests, prayed over them and placed them in our woodstove and watched as the paper lit up into flames. It was our prayer offering to Jesus.
