There are times when the enemy of the soul blindsides you and for a time you are left undone.
And after trying to get up by your bootstraps, you realize that the only way out is to get on your knees.
God’s Word says that days like this would come.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Eph. 6:12, 13
Outside, all is as it should be — the cherry blossoms have attracted the bees and butterflies and the daffodils are blooming — spring with its beauty has arrived.
Yet, inside we are waging a battle, a very real one and each day we realize that this battle is not ours to fight, for the battle belongs to the Lord.
Our job is to trust and obey.
“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” (v. 14, 15)
We look to the Cross upon which Jesus died and let the truth of what He did sink in. On the Cross he won the war once and for all. We are more than conquerors and nothing can separate us from the love of God.
“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (v. 16, 17)
We are choosing to believe and we put our faith in Jesus. We put on the helmet of salvation, which protects our mind and we mine the Bible for His Word and believe it and speaks its promises over our lives.
We are not yet on the other side of this battle. But we know Jesus is Victor and He is our victory. We look to our Father and to His great love for us and we rest in that.
